Auf einer Ansichtskarte von 1914 findet man die Synagoge von Neidenburg. Der Anblick ist von der Neidenburg nach Süd-Westen. Die Synagoge ist am linken Bildrand zu finden. In der Mitte das kleine Gebäude mit dem weißen Dach und den 4 Fenstern mit Fensterkreuz. Sie wurde in der Kristallnacht 1938 teilweise zerstört und dann als Grenzlandmuseum genutzt.

Nachfragen bei älteren Neidenburgern und Zeitzeugen stoßen auf Ablehnung und bleiben unbeantwortet! Nach der Volkszählung vom 1. Dezember 1871 lebten in der Stadt Neidenburg 241 jüdische Mitbürger. There is no precise data concerning about the beginning of Jewish settlement in this town. It is known though, that the first Jew who had a protective privilege came to Nidzica in the second half of XVIII century. With time a Jewish community formed in the city and in XIX it counted even about 250 members. Before that happened, in 1812 in the city there had lived only 10 Jewish families. But in 1871 there lived already 241 Jewish people. In the next years the community started to grow smaller. In 1905 it counted only 132 members. In the 1930s’ a support for the national socialist government was so high in the city and the boycott of Jewish shops and enterprises so painful that on the turn of 1933 most of Jews had to give up running them. In 1933 Diaspora of Nidzica and the other near towns still counted 127 people. Most of Jews left the city before 1938. In May 1939 there was only 23. The Jewish community in Nidzica had the own synagogue, consecrated in 1884. The Jewish cemetery was established tens year earlier. During the disturbances at Crystal Night in November 1938 the synagogue was burned. One Jew died at that time. In the ruins of the synagogue was established the „Muzeum Graniczne” („Grenzlandmuseum”).
